Thinking about getting involved but unsure what to expect? It is completely natural to feel a bit hesitant about stepping into local politics. At the PDTC, our focus is entirely on positive, community-centered conversations. We create a supportive, friendly team environment where you can connect safely and comfortably with fellow Democrats and independent neighbors who share your values. Our volunteer activities are safe, community-focused, and incredibly rewarding.

Whether you have 30 minutes or three hours, we have a fun option that fits your schedule perfectly!

CHOOSE YOUR ADVENTURE: VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY TYPES

📞 1. Phone\Text Banking (From the Comfort of Home)

  • The Fun Factor: You get to chat with fellow Democrats from your couch.

  • The Value Benefit: You are directly boosting voter turnout for crucial seats like Michelle Badger’s or Kathy LaNatra’s without ever leaving your house.

  • Time Commitment: 1 hour.

  • How To Do It: Campaigns provide a simple, pre-written script and a quick 10-minute training session. You just call\text verified, friendly Democrats to remind them to vote. If a call ever gets awkward, you simply say "Thank you, have a nice day," and click next!

🪧 2. Sign Stand-Outs (High Visibility, Zero Friction)

  • The Fun Factor: Imagine standing at a bustling Plymouth intersection on a crisp morning, waving signs with a group of cheering friends while supportive drivers honk their horns in solidarity!

  • The Value Benefit: It creates massive visual energy in town, showing our community that Plymouth Democrats are proud, active, and present.

  • Time Commitment: 30 to 45 minutes (perfect before work or on a weekend morning).

  • How To Do It: Show up at the designated Plymouth location (like near the waterfront or a major commuter route). We hand you a sign, you stand with the group, smile, wave, and soak in the positive energy.​​

✍️ 3. Signature Gathering (The Ultimate Conversation Starter)

  • The Fun Factor: Getting candidates on the ballot takes you to beautiful Plymouth spots like the farmers' market, downtown events, or local parks to chat with engaged neighbors.

  • The Value Benefit: Candidates cannot run without signatures. You are literally the gatekeeper who puts our Democratic leaders on the ballot.

  • Time Commitment: 1 to 2 hours.

  • How To Do It: Grab a clipboard, a nomination paper, and a pen. You stand at a high-traffic community spot and ask passing residents, "Are you a registered voter in Plymouth? Would you mind signing to help get our local Democratic candidates on the ballot?"

🚪 4. Knocking on Doors (Targeted & Deeply Rewarding)

  • The Fun Factor: Forget the myth of the angry homeowner—we only send you to the homes of registered Democrats to get out the vote! You will be greeted with smiles, thank-yous, and great neighborly conversations.

  • The Value Benefit: Face-to-face conversations are statistically proven to be the single most effective way to win elections.

  • Time Commitment: 2 hours (usually a Saturday or Sunday afternoon).

  • How To Do It: We pair you up with a buddy so you are never walking alone. Using a simple smartphone app, you follow a mapped route of friendly households, drop off campaign literature, and ask a couple of quick questions about their voting plan.

📋 5. Voter Registration & Enrollment Drives

  • The Fun Factor: Welcoming new residents to Plymouth or helping young locals register to vote for the very first time is an inspiring, feel-good celebration.

  • The Value Benefit: You are actively growing the Democratic voter base in Plymouth, turning the tide against the vocal minority.

  • Time Commitment: 1 to 2 hours.

  • How To Do It: Join us at a designated PDTC booth during local town festivals, college events, or community markets. You help folks fill out a simple registration form or show them how to scan a QR code to register online in under two minutes.

💸 6. Micro-Donations (Immediate Impact)

  • The Fun Factor: The easiest way to power the team! You get the satisfaction of knowing your coffee money is funding local victory.

  • The Value Benefit: Local campaigns run on grassroots dollars. Your donation pays for the signs, the clipboards, and the community booths that keep Plymouth blue.

  • Time Commitment: 30 seconds.

  • How To Do It: Skip one upscale coffee block this month and click our secure online ActBlue donation link to pitch in $5, $10, or $20 directly to the PDTC. Make it a monthly recurring 'coffee' donation, if you can.​
